Panel 17 - John drinks the poison prepared by Aristodemus (Lower panel of pair)
Description:
The Golden Legend tells how Aristodemus, high priest of the cult of Diana,
challenges John to drink poison to prove the superior power of his own
God. Note the two dead men on the left - condemned criminals on whom the
poison's potency had been tested. Having survived the challenge, John
then revives the two men, prompting Aristodemus and the Proconsul to convert.
