One of the more unusual miracles attributed to the saint. A distracted mother forgets to douse the fire with which she was heating her son's bath water and wanders off to see to her other chores. As the water becomes dangerously hot, Saint Nicolas miraculously gives the young baby the power of speech, allowing him to alert his mother to his dire predicament.
