In another posthumous episode from Pope Linus' Vita Pauli, during the night after his death Paul appeared to Nero in his palace bed-chamber and warned him of the terrible fate that awaited him for shedding the blood of Christians. In his terror Nero released Paul's companions, including Barnabas and the cup-bearer Patroclus. Nero's pose in this panel is almost the same as in panel 30. The two protagonists are flanked by their seconds - a censing angel in panel 34 and a staff-bearing henchman in panel 36
