Description:
According to Vincent of Beauvais, when the time came for Clovis to be annointed with holy oil (chrism), a dove descended from heaven carrying a sacred ampoule of oil. The legendary oil was subsequently stored at the Abbey of St Nicaise and brought to the cathedral for all French coronation ceremonies.
