Description:
The main panel shows Thomas riding off to the right with two other clerics
but turning round to take his leave of the group of figures in the preceding
panel. Delaporte identified the latter as Cistercians on the basis of
their habits - which just goes to show the danger of studying stained
glass from black & white photographs! Nevertheless, despite this apparent
discrepency, the departure from Pontigny (where Thomas spent two years
during his exile, before returning to the relative safety of Sens Cathedral)
still seems the most likely explanation of these panels.
