Description:
Hucher suggests this may be the death of Simon Magus, with the demon that
supported him leaving his body in the form of the blue hairy figure seen
above. The composition is certainly a confusing one - the curved red shape
behind the prone figure's head could equally be a halo or just part of
the structure he is resting on (which, incidentally has openings in the
side, suggesting a shrine). Moreover the dead man's clothing is distinctly
ecclesiastical, and he is tonsured - which pretty much rules out Simon
Magus.
