Description:
A single scene stretched across the top three panels of the lancet. The
Midianite traders who bought Joseph from his brothers have arrived in
Egypt. The camels in the left panel serve as reminders of the journey.
In the central panel, two of the Midianites push Joseph forward towards
the enthroned Potiphar, who holds out the payment in his extended left
hand. The head of Potiphar's
wife (seated figure far right) has been repaired with a contemporary head
from another window (and apparently by a different workshop). The replacement
head shows someone with their hand against their cheek - rather an unfortunate
choice given that both of the figure's other hands are also visible.
