Christ's hand gestures suggest exposition. Of his interlocutors, the right hand figure is ambiguous but his companion has bare feet and is therefore probably one of the Apostles. In this case it is likely this scene is a narrative 'frame' image, showing Christ as the (extradiagetic) narrator of the parable.
