On the right a man in secular garb, with no trace of a halo (cruciform or otherwise) holds out a pair of keys to another similarly attired man, who is likewise un-nimbed. Both the heads and the areas surrounding them appear original, making it unlikely that these figures ever had haloes. It therefore seems inconceivable that this could represent the coventional scene of Christ and St Peter in the donatio clavis.
