In the left hand panel are two male figures, one wearing a skull-cap but neither nimbed, who appear to be asking or imploring
something of the figure in the right hand panel. This figure, who is also not nimbed but who is barefoot (an apostle?), raises
his hands in a gesture suggesting exposition or instruction. He stands alongside an altar which is not dressed for the mass
but which does have a tall white candle standing to the right (note the red flame flickering at the top) and the customary lamp
hanging over it.
