Balaam is shown standing at right, debating (note the hand gestures) with two seated men - the emissaries sent by King Balak to ask him to come and curse the Israelites. He explains that he has consulted God on the matter, who told him he was not to answer the King's call. Some nice examples here of the sharply angled wrists favoured by this workshop.
