Although the CVMA summary described this as Martial 'assisting at the Last Supper', he is not actually shown here. Instead it is a conventional depiction of the Apostles' reaction to Christ's assertion that one of them will betray him. The young man washing Christ's hand in the preceding panel is nowhere to be seen. Instead the designer has simply turned the hagiographer's claim that Martial washed Christ's hands 'before' the last supper into spatial form and this panel serves as an adjunct to help identify panel A1.
