Panel B6 - The devil gives some pilgrims a bottle of oil for Nicholas' shrine (scene 1 of 3)
One of the less-frequently depicted of St Nicholas' miracles, though it does appear in the Golden Legend. The devil (or in some
versions the pagan goddess, Diana, angered by the Saint's success in destroying her sacred groves) appears in the guise of an old
woman to some pilgrims en route to St Nicholas' shrine. She asks them to take a phial of oil on her behalf and annoint the walls
of the shrine with it.
