In a bravura piece of visual story-telling, the artist has used the same cartoon for this scene of John the Evangelist arguing
with the Emperor Domitian as he used in the preceeding panel (D2) to show John the Baptist arguing with Herod, resulting in scenes
that are almost identical. As well as saving time and money in the production of the window, this trick helps to emphasise the
similarity between the two saints' narratives in their fearless confrontations with secular authorities.
