The cemetery behind the Remuh Synagogue in Kazimierz is a wonderfully tranquil spot full of bird-song. The Remuh Synagogue is the only one in Kazimierz which is still functioning - a sad reflection of the fact that the pre-war Jewish population of 70000 has now been reduced to only around 100 (the story of which became Schindler's List).
