Helsinki - Notes

Helsinki, along with Tallin and Budapest, is one of my favourite European cities. It has the general cleanliness and healthy atmosphere of Stockholm but with less formality. Although the Finns are famous for their taciturnity, I found the residents of Helsinki to be very friendly and helpful.
Although I went to Helsinki primarily to photograph the buildings of the great Alvar Aalto, most of them were sadly covered in scaffolding in preparation for his centenary so you won't see them on these pages yet! Never mind - it gives me a good excuse for going back again some time.
