Kosice & Bardejov - Notes

Kosice is the main town in the Eastern half of Slovakia - a country which was born in 1993 after 74 years as the neglected member of the Czechoslovakian partnership. Whilst Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia is a few miles away from the Austrian border, Kosice, 450km to the East, is closer to plains of Ukraine and Eastern Hungary. The atmosphere in the town is very pleasant with plenty of bars & cafes and a lively arts scene. On a summer's evening it is quite delightful to watch the son et lumiere displays of the musical fountain with the magnificent State Theatre lit up behind it.

Bardejov is a small market town 80km North of Kosice which is well worth a visit for its town walls and well preserved market square and cathedral.
