Traditional wooden fishing dhows drawn up on the beach next to Old Fort Rd to sort out their nets. You can still see such boats being made at the western end of the island or, on a much grander scale, at Porbandar, a few hundred km west.
The Fortino do Mar can just be seen in the distance, looking more like a warship steaming ahead than a fortress of brick and mortar.
