Detail of the memorial stele within a king's chattri showing the deceased on the left paying homage to Vishnu (seated on a throne with his consort - note the conch shell in his upper right hand). Garuda, Vishnu's vehicle is kneeling beneath his left hand. The symbols of the sun and the moon are at the top with an umbrella (associated with Arjuna and the symbol of Rajasthani royalty) in the middle. The traces of vermillion paste on all the main auspicious points of the carving show how much these dead kings are still revered.
I've no idea what the inscription reads but if anyone can decipher it, please
mail me.
