Junagadh & Girnar Hill - Notes

The town of Junagadh doesn't attract many tourists but it has a lot of good things going for it. For most visitors, the main objective is the ascent of Girnar Hill (a gruelling two or three hour climb up around 7000 steps) to see the wonderful Jain temples. Junagadh is also a popular base for people making trips to the nearby Sasan Gir lion preserve.
Personally I really liked the town itself. It has some very distinctive indo-saracenic architecture (most notably the wonderfully over-the-top muqbaras) and an old fort, Uparkot, where you can fight your way through dense scrub in search of yet more old buildings.
