JORDAN ::: 'DESERT CASTLES LOOP'

Qasr Mshatta
View of the central complex from the western side-tract. The rectangular foundations in the foreground were for the southern complex which was never completed.
Unusually for an Umayyad building, the whole structure is built from burnt bricks resting on a foundation layer of finely dressed stone (a technique more often associated with the later Abassids of Baghdad.)
