In the foreground are the remnants of the northern temenos - all that survives of the earlier temple (dating back to at least 17 AD). The temple complex was fully excavated by Swiss archaeologists in the 1950's - the only temple at the site to have been so comprehensively studied. On the wall at the right you can just see a window - a very rare feature on classical temples. |
