The Cardo Maximus - 1 of 3
In the Hellenic street-plan of most Roman towns, the main east-west street was the cardo maximus, intersected by a north-south aligned decumanus. This photo is the view looking east along the cardo - the four tall corinthian columns are all that remains of the Nympaeum or public water fountain.
