This recently excavated area in the north-east of the enclosure appears to have been used as accomodation for visiting pilgrims. This image is one of my favourites from Resafeh because it shows something of the everyday life of the community. The round clay stove at the bottom of the stairs would have been a very necessary feature in the bitterly cold desert night.
