My visit to the Crac coincided with the Syrian public holiday for Eid-al-Fitr ("The day of the feast" - a major muslim festival a month after the end of Ramadan) and a group of students from Aleppo University had driven up for a picnic. As usually seems to happen in Syria when there are more than a couple of people gathered together and someone has a drum, enthusiastic dancing soon started!
