LEBANON ::: JOUNIEH

Jounieh
Often described as Beirut's playground, Jounieh is about 8 miles along the coast in the northern suburbs. It's famous for it's nightlife, with countless bars, nightclubs and casinos, including the famous Casino di Liban, once the biggest and richest in the Middle East. Although it's only a few miles away, getting to Jounieh by road can take an hour or more because of the permanent traffic jams.
The Telepherique, or "Terror-freak" as it's widely known, connects the fleshpots of downtown Jounieh with the altogether more refined heights of Harissa and the Maronite Cathedral. The tiny cable-cars are not for those of a nervous disposition but they do offer great views over the bay (and even into the windows of various high-rise blocks) and are much quicker than driving.
