This Krishna temple was built by King Siddhinarsingh Malla and completed in 1637. Facing the temple is a stone column topped by a statue of the half-man, half-bird Garuda (Garuda was the vehicle of Vishnu and of course Krishna was one of Vishnu's avatars or incarnations). The Krishna Mandir, with its unquestionably Indian shikhara-style design does look slightly out of place surrounded by more traditional Newari pagoda temples.
