The potters wheel is a disarded truck tyre filled with concrete and mounted on an old axle bearing. The potter starts it moving by hand then gradually gets it spinning faster and faster using a pole. The weight and momentum of the wheel is such that it will spin for about 8-10 minutes before slowing down, time enough to throw three or four water jugs.
